About The Opportunity
WeWork is seeking a Head of Legal LATAM. The role will report into the Head of International Legal based in London, and involve managing lawyers covering legal matters in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. The role will be responsible for strategic legal advice to the business on a wide variety of contractual, corporate, labor, litigation, and regulatory issues related to WeWork's operations in the region, and will serve as the primary legal contact for the regional leadership team, as well as our legal teams in New York and London.
The main responsibilities of this role will include:
- Managing and supporting the LATAM legal team across a broad spectrum of matters in the region, including setting priorities and ensuring global and regional business goals are achieved.
- Primary responsibility over creating and meeting the regional budget; managing key outside counsel relationships; training, supervising, and developing legal staff; and implementing regional policies, processes and initiatives consistently with global counterparts.
- Serving as the main point of contact for regional leadership on a broad range of legal issues, and helping shape business strategy through commercial legal advice.
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and providing general legal advice to WeWork teams on a variety of contracts, including membership agreements, agreements with suppliers of goods and services, lease agreements, software/IT contracts, partnerships, and confidentiality agreements, among others.
- Advising on and coordinating corporate matters across the region, including drafting and reviewing bylaws, board meeting minutes, and partner assembly minutes, as well as other corporate acts.
- Advising on labor, regulatory, and litigation matters; managing regional litigation matters and strategy with WeWork’s global litigation team and external counsel.
- Identifying and developing legal strategies to mitigate legal risks for the business and potential new products and services.
- Assisting and supporting other administrative activities of the legal department, including organizing files, reviewing invoices, and actively contributing to the development of workflows and processes to ensure team efficiency.
About you
- Completed higher education degree in Law.
- Licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction in which you are based.
- Advanced English proficiency. Preference for both Spanish and Portuguese proficiency.
- 10+ years of experience in a law firm and/or multinational company.
- Preference experience in contractual, real estate, and/or corporate law.
- Excellent writing and contract interpretation skills.
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure, meeting objectives within a set timeline.
- Proficiency in software and other applications (Excel, Word, PPT, and others).
