Job Description
Rockwell Automation is looking for an Automation Engineer to join our dynamic technology team. You'll help build, maintain, and enhance automation solutions that support our global technology operations, working closely with other engineers and cross-functional teams to lead operational efficiency and reliability.
You will report to the Senior IT Manager located in USA and your role will be fully remote, working anywhere in the Poland.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design and implement automation workflows for provisioning, configuration, and management of on-premise network devices, servers, and storage.
- Support the shift to a foundational-first approach by helping define and standardize configuration baselines for each device type and region.
- Assist in auditing and discovering existing device configurations, collecting inventories, and identifying gaps or variances from defined baselines.
- Contribute to the development and rollout of reusable configuration templates and automation playbooks (e.g., Ansible, NetBox, Terraform) for zero-touch provisioning and lifecycle management.
- Help integrate configuration standards into automated provisioning workflows, ensuring all new devices use approved templates to minimize technical debt.
- Participate in building compliance validation checkpoints within provisioning pipelines, supporting config drift detection and remediation.
- Assist in ongoing configuration management by supporting version control, rollback workflows, and continuous improvement processes.
- Support the design and implementation of automation solutions for infrastructure and application environments using CI/CD and modern DevOps practices.
- Develop scripts and automation workflows for system provisioning, configuration management, and environment monitoring using industry-standard tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Assist in automating and maintaining build, test, and deployment pipelines for cloud and on-premises environments.
- Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to deliver automation initiatives that improve delivery speed, quality, and security.
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving operational issues in automation workflows, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Contribute to the documentation of automation processes, configuration standards, and best practices.
- Monitor production and staging environments to help ensure availability, performance, and compliance.
- Stay current with automation tools, standards, and practices, and apply new knowledge in daily work.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or similar technical automation role.
- Working knowledge of infrastructure concepts (systems, cloud, networking basics).
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Basic understanding of monitoring and logging tools.
- Proficient in English, allowing collaboration with a global team.
The Preferred – You Might Also Have:
- Experience working in a production or staging IT environment.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools or asset/configuration management databases.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure/GCP, Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes).
