SUMMARY:
The Procurement Manager is a high-impact individual contributor role that consolidates both strategic and operational ownership of procurement at Placer.ai. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance Operations, this role is responsible for managing procurement lifecycle, spend analytics and supporting policy development.
This person will own and execute procurement responsibilities without direct reports, serving as both strategic driver and hands-on executor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
🧾 Strategic Procurement Ownership
- Manage end-to-end procurement operations for software, consulting, and service vendors.
- Develop and implement scalable procurement strategies aligned with company growth, cost-efficiency, and risk mitigation.
- Serve as an internal authority on procurement policies, processes, and tools.
🧠 Contract Management & Vendor Negotiation
- Lead negotiations for specified new and renewing vendor contracts to ensure favorable commercial, legal, and compliance terms.
- Maintain full ownership of vendor evaluations, onboarding, and relationship management.
- Build scalable documentation, templates, and tracking frameworks to manage vendor performance.
📊 Data-Driven Cost Optimization
- Analyze company-wide spend to identify cost-saving opportunities, remove redundancies, and enhance ROI.
- Lead usage audits and savings analyses to ensure optimal vendor utilization.
- Own the development and distribution of recurring procurement insights and dashboards to Finance and cross-functional stakeholders.
🔄 Process & Policy Development
- Drive continuous improvement in procurement workflows and tooling, including intake, approvals, renewals, and compliance.
- Own the creation and enforcement of procurement policies, partnering with Legal, Security, IT, and Finance teams.
🤝 Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as the central procurement liaison for Legal, IT, Security, Accounting, and FP&A.
- Provide high-quality support to internal stakeholders across all departments for procurement-related needs.
- Coordinate and communicate proactively with leadership regarding procurement priorities, escalations, and risk exposures.
🧳 Non-Procurement Expenditure Oversight
- Monitor and optimize corporate travel, workspace, and other non-procurement cost centers.
- Conduct budget alignment, vendor utilization reviews, and policy recommendations for these categories.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills & Competencies
- Advanced competency in procurement, vendor lifecycle management, and contract negotiation.
- Proven ability to function as both a strategic partner and a hands-on executor without delegation.
- Excellent data/spreadsheet skills, and deep experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and procurement data analytics.
- Strong communication, persuasion, and cross-functional stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail, strong prioritization, and ability to manage competing deadlines independently. - Strong working knowledge of procurement and financial software relevant to procurement.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years of experience in procurement, finance operations, sourcing, or related areas — preferably in a high-growth tech/SaaS company.
- Proven track record of delivering financial results and driving strategic transformation.
- Familiarity with AI-driven workflow and analytics tools is a must.
- Plus: Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Plus: Experience working directly with Legal, IT, and Security teams on vendor governance and compliance.
