ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Innovate and Create: Engage in mechanical technology assessments and concept designs during development phases, using your creativity and engineering judgment to drive innovation and technical feasibility decisions.
• Ensure Excellence: Contribute to mechanical characterization, verification, and validation activities at both the component and system level, ensuring product performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Lead Projects: Participate in project management responsibilities, including report writing, planning, scheduling, and cost control.
• Design with Impact: Perform evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques to create innovative mechanical designs for medical devices.
• Collaborate and Lead: Actively participate in design reviews, offering innovative approaches, and researching new mechanical technologies to maintain technological leadership.
• Solve Problems: Identify and mitigate mechanical safety risks throughout the product lifecycle, applying creative problem-solving to address technical challenges and avoid manufacturing delays.
• Drive Improvement: Track and improve key mechanical engineering metrics to drive continuous improvement in design quality and efficiency.
• Stay Compliant: Implement and understand FDA or regulatory requirements as necessary, ensuring compliance with Quality System regulations and safe working practices.
• Document and Communicate: Prepare and review engineering/technical documents such as reports, SOPs, protocols, change notices, schedules, budgets, and vendor-provided documents and drawings.
• Be Inquisitive: Take initiative and demonstrate inquisitive approaches to solve moderately complex problems, identifying problems, generating alternatives, and recommending solutions.
• Enhance Processes: Follow department processes and regularly make recommendations to improve them.
• Support/Lead Projects: Develop reports, charts, and graphs to support project recommendations and respond to questions from technical staff members and management.
• Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment or across teams to achieve common goals and results.
• Analyze and Present: Analyze data and present it in appropriate forums.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical or development engineering, preferably with a focus on medical device development.
