About the role
We are a fast-growing immigration law firm looking for a highly detail-oriented Legal Assistant to help review FOIA and court records in order to support identification of immigration options for our clients. This position works closely with our attorney and record collection teams to ensure every case is processed thoroughly, accurately, and in compliance with firm protocol.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am to 6pm EST.
Payrate: $7/hr.
What you'll do
1. Perform legal and factual research with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
2. Analyze and summarize FBI background checks, USCIS, OBIM, CBP, EOIR, and court records using standardized protocols.
3. Extract important information regarding entries, exits, and inadmissibilities.
4. Follow structured procedures to identify possible aggravated felonies, CIMTs, or inadmissibility triggers.
5. Compare information from the records to the information in our case submission.
6. Draft concise and clear case summaries, highlighting key discrepancies and immigration implications for attorney review.
7. Identify when supplements to cases are needed and complete the body of the cover letter to be sent with the supplement.
8. Track review findings across multiple platforms
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or paralegal certification preferred. Relevant work experience in law, courts, government agencies, or immigration services may substitute.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) at C1 level or above.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; must be confident in digital document handling (Dropbox, PDFs, online court systems).
- Strong process discipline; ability to follow structured procedures with precision.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple case reviews at once.
- Exceptional attention to detail – this role requires precise interpretation of legal records.
- Self-starter with a problem-solving mindset; capable of navigating ambiguous or incomplete files independently.

Core i5 / Ryzen 5 processor (2.0GHz or higher) recent model (2018 +)
Webcam / Good microphone and headset.
Minimum 25mbps Upload and Download network speed
