Position Description
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for statutory accounting and reporting processes for the entities under their scope. This includes ensuring compliance with local regulations, supporting audit activities, and acting as a key link between business unit finance teams and Johnson & Johnson Global Services.
This position reports to the Manager of the Legal Entity Accounting (LEA) team and will collaborate closely with leadership teams across Venezuela and Central America.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end accounting and reporting processes for LATAM.
- Lead statutory reporting for LATAM operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and corporate policies.
- Build and coordinate audit plans, including schedules, communication protocols, and timely escalation.
- Supervise and mentor analysts, including performance management and development.
- Act as primary contact for Country Tax Centers (CTCs), external auditors, and tax advisors.
- Ensure compliance with SOX and internal controls, partnering with PwC, GAA, and Compliance.
- Drive consistency in processes for local financial statements and statistical submissions.
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting practices and procedures.
- Provide guidance on complex financial and system issues to maintain overall control.
- Serve as a key liaison between Business Unit Finance (BUF) and Global Process Teams.
- Partner with finance leadership to support decision-making, projects, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor and facilitate external audit activities, ensuring alignment and timely resolution.
Qualifications
- Certified accountant (local or international equivalent) with 7+ years of professional experience in finance/accounting.
- Fluent in English, with strong ability to read, interpret, and communicate in professional settings.
Experience
Required:
- Solid experience in financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated success in finance, accounting, or related service environments.
- Knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Proficiency in SAP FI.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of SOX and internal control frameworks.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in Big Four firms (PwC, EY, KPMG, Deloitte) or direct responsibility for leading external audits.
- Familiarity with local GAAP in multiple countries, with ability to run adjustments to US GAAP.
