Video Editor – Direct Response & Organic Social Content (Remote)
Brand: The Max Letters
Are you a highly skilled video editor with a deep understanding of both direct response advertising and organic social content? Do you know how to transform raw footage into scroll-stopping ads and emotionally compelling videos—all while staying true to a brand’s tone and values? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
About Us
The Max Letters is a fast-growing, story-by-mail experience for kids—an award-winning fantasy adventure told through 24 letters mailed across a year. We’re a mission-driven brand focused on imagination, deep storytelling, and screen-free wonder. Our customers are mostly thoughtful parents (especially moms) looking for meaningful gifts that inspire a love of reading.
The Role
We’re looking for a self-directed, highly experienced Video Editor to take full ownership of our video creative output. You’ll work with our growing library of raw footage to develop a range of short-form videos, from high-performing ad creatives to organic social content. You must have a strong understanding of what drives conversions in paid ads and how to craft emotionally resonant content that feels native to social platforms.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute direct response ad creatives (TikTok, Meta, IG) with a conversion-first mindset
- Edit and deliver on-brand organic videos (warm, story-driven, emotionally engaging)
- Ideate and pitch creative concepts based on available footage or needs
- Pull from a growing library of raw content to create new videos with minimal direction
- Select music, sound design, text overlays, pacing, and other elements to enhance performance
- Deliver final assets in platform-native formats, optimized for engagement and results
- Collaborate with our Creative Strategist and founder for occasional alignment—but work independently most of the time
Requirements
- Proven experience editing direct response video ads that convert
- Strong portfolio of organic social content (TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc.)
- Deep understanding of pacing, trends, hooks, and storytelling for short-form video
- Exceptional creative instincts and editing skillset—able to work fast, with quality
- Strong eye for tone, emotion, and visual storytelling
- Highly autonomous and proactive—you don’t wait for instructions
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Fluent in English
Bonus Points
- Experience with children’s products, family-oriented brands, or lifestyle content
- Copywriting instincts or ability to write hooks and overlays
- Motion graphics skills (nice to have, not required)
Commitment & Pay
- Freelance/Contract (20-30 hours/week, flexible)
- Fully remote
- Competitive pay based on experience and quality of work
- Looking for long-term, ongoing work if the fit is strong
To Apply:
Please provide:
- A short intro telling us why this is the right fit for you
- Links to 3–5 relevant video examples—ideally both ad and organic styles
