Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Virtual Medical Assistant with a nursing background to support our outpatient clinic operations remotely. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a U.S.-based clinic environment, demonstrating strong administrative, clinical coordination, and patient communication skills. This role requires excellent multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:
- Answer and manage incoming phone calls in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Manage inbound and outbound faxes, including sorting, categorizing, and routing to the appropriate department or provider.
- Verify and document patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Perform insurance verification for upcoming appointments and procedures.
- Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations for medications and treatments.
- Process and coordinate incoming referrals from other providers or facilities.
- Communicate with patients, pharmacies, insurance companies, and referring offices to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies.
- Collaborate with providers and the clinical team to address patient needs efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Nursing background (Licensed Nurse, Nurse Assistant, or similar clinical experience preferred).
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Virtual Medical Assistant in a U.S.-based healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical scheduling software.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. healthcare processes, including insurance verification, prior authorizations, and referral management.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
Work Environment:
- Fully remote, supporting a U.S.-based outpatient clinic.
- Monday to Friday schedule with occasional flexibility based on clinic needs.
