Job Overview:
As an Immigration Paralegal - Asylum, you will play a crucial role in assisting attorneys with the preparation and filing of asylum applications. You will also be responsible for conducting research, gathering evidence, and communicating with clients and government agencies. This is a full-time position, with the opportunity for growth and advancement within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with the preparation and filing of asylum applications
- Conduct research on country conditions and immigration laws
- Gather evidence and prepare supporting documents for asylum cases
- Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information and provide updates on case status
- Coordinate with government agencies and other parties involved in the asylum process
- Maintain accurate and organized case files
- Draft legal documents and correspondence
- Attend client meetings and assist with client interviews
- Keep up-to-date with changes in immigration laws and procedures
- Provide administrative support to attorneys as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an immigration paralegal, with a focus on asylum cases
- Knowledge of immigration laws and procedures, particularly related to asylum
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal software programs
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but not required
