Position Summary
Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the payroll, tax compliance, and accounting processes in accordance with Colombian labor laws, tax regulations, and IFRS standards. This role ensures accurate and timely execution of payroll, financial reporting, tax filings, and compliance while supporting management with financial insights and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

Record and review supplier, contractor, employee, and service invoices with proper accounting codes.

Record and review tax withholdings.

Ensure proper internal approval of supplier and contractor invoices according to company policies.

Record monthly invoices, supplier/employee advances, travel expense reports, and petty cash.

Approve employee expense reports, petty cash, and supplier/contractor invoices.
-
Analyze monthly reconciliations of accounts payable and receivable.
- Record monthly invoicing based on commercial information and manage accounts receivable and collections.
Accounting & Financial Reporting

Ensure accounting records comply with Colombian Accounting Standards and IFRS.

Prepare and review accounting vouchers.
-
Coordinate accounting and tax closings with company management.
-
Analyze monthly balance sheet and income statement accounts.

Review bank reconciliations, purchase records, fixed asset records, deferred assets, depreciation, amortization, and provisions.

Record financial obligations, bank charges, and investment movements.
-
Prepare monthly balance sheets and corporate financial statements.
-
Review adjustments to financial statements and official accounting books.

Support internal and external audits, including statutory auditors.
- Manage and control company fixed assets, including logistics of asset dispatch.
Tax Compliance

Prepare and file monthly and bimonthly tax returns (withholding tax, ICA, VAT).

Approve withholding tax, ICA, and VAT returns.
-
Reconcile tax returns with accounting records.

Support statutory auditors with monthly tax return reviews.

Calculate monthly and annual income tax provisions.
-
Prepare and approve the Annual Income Tax Return.
-
Prepare and approve national and district magnetic media reports.
-
Prepare withholding tax certificates and deferred tax calculations.
-
Prepare foreign exchange declarations (if applicable).

Analyze tax accounts, non-deductible expenses, non-taxable income, and other reconciliations for income tax base.
- Prepare responses to tax authority inquiries.
Payroll Management

Calculate employee salaries and deductions in compliance with Colombian labor laws, applying benefits, bonuses, and deductions as legally required or contractually agreed.

Manage specialized payroll software for payroll processing and record keeping.

Conduct periodic internal audits to ensure consistency and accuracy of payroll records.

Prepare and file payroll-related tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Accurately calculate and withhold income taxes and contributions, ensuring timely payments to social security and pension systems.

Respond to claims and presumed debts from UGPP (Unidad de Gestión Pensional y Parafiscales).
- Manage recovery of medical leave reimbursements from EPS, maintaining rigorous records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Corporate & Strategic Support

Prepare financial reports for the corporate group in Colombian Pesos and US Dollars, following approved formats.

Collaborate with management to ensure operations comply with local regulations and ethical standards.

Support continuous improvement of payroll, tax, and accounting processes.

Administration and logistics of company assets
- Perform any additional duties assigned by management or included in the job profile.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in payroll, accounting, and tax compliance in Colombia.

Strong knowledge of Colombian labor, tax, and accounting regulations (IFRS).

Experience with payroll software and ERP/accounting systems.

Strong analytical, organizational, and auditing skills.

Ability to prepare financial statements and tax filings in both COP and USD.

Excellent attention to detail and compliance orientation.
-
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills; proficiency in English is a must.
